Thirty students participated in the event, held at Central York High School.


Rachel Ritchey, a student at West York Area High School, was named the 2018 Distinguished Woman of York County at the scholarship competition's annual event Saturday night, according to a news release.

Ritchey, who was recognized for her vocal skills in the talent portion of the event, also won the interview category.

The event, now in its 53rd year, focuses on education, offering scholarships "while recognizing the accomplishments of students in our community," according to the news release.

Thirty students participated in the event, held at Central York High School.

Be Your Best Self: Zoe Hornberger, York Suburban.

Leadership: Katherine Fonda, Central York; Rachel Strode, Christian School of York; Maura O'Mahony, Central York; Caroline Blalock, Central York; and Julia Sowers, Spring Grove.

Spirit Award: Abigail Wurzbach, York Catholic.
